Toomer Named NFC Offensive Player of the Week
Giants wideout earns honor for efforts during team's 31-28 OT win over Jets.

November 5, 2003
East Rutherford, N.J. - WR Amani Toomer has been named NFC Offensive Player of the Week for games played the ninth week of the 2003 season (November 2-3), the NFL announced today.
Toomer enjoyed a milestone afternoon, helping the Giants to a 31-28 overtime win over the New York Jets in the "Battle in the Big Apple."

The wide receiver finished with six receptions for 127 yards (one touchdown) in the victory. The 100-yard game was the 18th of his career, passing HOMER JONES (1964-69) for the most 100-yard receiving games in franchise history.

Toomer gave the Giants their first lead with a 39-yard second-quarter touchdown catch for a 10-7 advantage.
WR Amani Toomer notched six receptions for 127 yards against the Jets in Week 9.
The touchdown was the 36th receiving score of his career, breaking a tie with Jones, DEL SHOFNER and AARON THOMAS for fourth-most in team history. All six of his catches on the day resulted in first downs, and 30 of his 33 receptions this season (660 yards) have moved the chains for New York.

Toomer saved perhaps his biggest catches of the day for overtime. On the first possession of the extra session, his 22-yard catch helped put the Giants in position to attempt a game-winning field goal. Later in overtime, his 19-yard grab set up the Giants in Jets territory at the 34 yard-line. Four plays later, kicker BRETT CONWAY's 29-yard field goal ended the exciting see-saw affair.

"This is a huge win for us," said Toomer, who extended his team-record by catching a pass in his 75th consecutive game. "Our confidence is growing strong and now all we need is a third win in a row to give us a winning streak."
In his eighth season from Michigan, this is Toomer's second Player of the Week Award.
